The heat resistance of pure PET is not high, and the thermal deformation temperature is only around 85 ℃, but it is significantly improved after reinforcement treatment. The mechanical properties of PET reinforced with glass fibers are similar to those of engineering plastics such as PC and PA, and the thermal deformation temperature can reach 225 ℃; PET has good heat aging resistance, with a brittleness temperature of -70 ℃, and still has a certain toughness at -30 ℃; PET is not easy to burn, with a yellow flame and dripping combustion oil.

PET is a milky white or light yellow highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and shiny surface. Creep resistance, fatigue resistance, wear resistance, and dimensional stability are good, with low wear and high hardness. It has the greatest toughness among thermoplastic materials: good electrical insulation performance, less affected by temperature, but poor corona resistance. Non toxic, weather resistant, stable against chemicals, low water absorption, resistant to weak acids and organic solvents, but not resistant to hot water immersion or alkali. PET resin has a high glass transition temperature, slow crystallization rate, long molding cycle, long molding cycle, high molding shrinkage rate, poor dimensional stability, brittle crystallization molding, and low heat resistance. Through the improvement of nucleating agents, crystallization agents, and glass fiber reinforcement, PET not only possesses the properties of PBT, but also has the following characteristics. 1. The thermal deformation temperature and long-term use temperature are the highest among thermoplastic general engineering plastics 2. Due to its high heat resistance, reinforced PET is immersed in a soldering bath at 250 ℃ for 10 seconds without deformation or discoloration, making it particularly suitable for preparing electronic and electrical parts for soldering: 3. Thin film processing
At the film level, PET resin slices are pre dried to prevent hydrolysis, and then amorphous thick sheets are extruded in a
T-shaped mold at 280 ℃ in an extruder. They are then quenched by a cooling drum or coolant to maintain an amorphous shape for
stretching orientation. The thick film is then biaxially stretched by a stretcher to form a PET film. Longitudinal stretching
refers to preheating a thick sheet to 86~87 ℃, and stretching it about three times along the plane direction of the thick sheet at
this temperature, so that its orientation can improve the crystallinity to reach a higher temperature: the preheating temperature
for transverse stretching is 98~100 ℃, the stretching temperature is 100~120 ℃, the stretching ratio is 2.5~4.0, and the heat
setting temperature is 230~240 ℃. The film after longitudinal and transverse stretching also needs to undergo heat setting to
eliminate membrane deformation caused by stretching and produce a film with good thermal stability.
